I am a Commercial Manager at Iesis Urban.
Over 25 years experience within the construction industry as a QS, my area of expertise is contract negotiation, management of sub-contract accounts, interacting with the design team and construction teams. Value engineering, production of bill of quantities, undertaking cost comparisons and cost reporting.
Outside of work I play guitar for the local Baptist church band. I am a married father of three, so much of my time is taken up by my children outside of work.
Being a QS is no one’s dream job growing up, so not surprising it can be difficult in certain circumstances to wonder why we do this kind of job at all. That said I now cannot see myself in any other role. My family is the reason I get up and go to work on tough days and if you have the right team around you even the tough days can be agreeable. IUS so far has been good, a decent team of people within IUS and the wider Iesis.
I actually do like early mornings, surprisingly that never gets me in early enough for Tony Daniels. I’m Irish and therefore support the best International Rugby Team in the World, but that’s not surprising. Other than that, I love cooking, the kitchen is generally my domain on weekends if not manning my BBQ.
